Portalarium

Game Designer / World Builder

At Portalarium, I served as a game world designer building the world of the MMO RPG Shroud of the Avatar. During my time at Portalarium I created in-game levels from initial concept/white boxing to completion. I was responsible for over 40+ unique level designs, from open world to dungeons.

My day-to-day responsibilities involved working closely with the Creative Director and Art Director to build, texturize, and decorate natural terrain based exterior environments. I worked closely with engineers and artists to utilize kits, modular sets, and scrips to create level designs encompassing exterior locations, dungeons, and caves.

Additionally, I populated maps with resources, interactive objects, and creatures to support quest design and ensure key gameplay elements were in place. This included configuring AI waypoint paths, player spawn points, location discoveries, scene exits, and other essential gameplay markers.
